O Star-Flinging God:

An Epiphany Prayer

O Star-flinging God, whose light dances across eternity, dazzle us into your presence this new year. Open our hearts to the mystery of your love.

Awaken us to your presence, knit to the ordinary.

Reveal to us what is possible, but not yet present.

Heal us, that we might be healers.

Reconcile us to you and to ourselves, that our living might be reconciling.

Stop us often, we pray

 with news that is good

 with hope that holds

with truth that transforms with a Word tailored to this trail we're on.

May the word of your grace guide our steps like the sun by day and the north star by night, as we travel into the gift of a new year.

Amen.

2021: NCR's Most Read Article Mentions AUSCP

NCR recently (12/28/21) posted its most read articles of 2021. The top article was "How Catholics got conned by Donald Trump." Last January, a week before Joe Biden was sworn in as president, NCR published this essay by Franciscan Sr. Fran Ferder, a clinical psychologist, and Fr. John Heagle, chair of the Gospel Nonviolence Working Group for AUSCP (the Association of United States Catholic Priests).

In the essay, the writers said that former President Donald Trump conned many Americans, including Catholics, into voting for him because of his so-called "pro-life" stance. But, in 2017, a team of 27 mental health professionals wrote a book outlining the danger that Trump posed to the U.S. and to the world. Wednesdays, January 5, 12, 19, 26 at 4:00 PM EST - Our Mission: LEAVENING HUMANKIND in TODAY’S WORLD by Living the Gospel a la` Vatican II
Pope Francis’ Synod 2021-23 for a Synodal Church is his call for a second “wave” of Vatican II implementation. He judges that the Church has embraced and effected only 50% of the Council’s Vision and Values, if that. Accordingly Francis invites us to “Dream” a timely “Path to a Better Future”. Refreshing our grasp of Vatican II’s 16 conciliar documents can help us dream that dream and walk that path. This series will revisit all 16 Vatican II documents over the next few years. The series will start with Gaudium et Spes, one of the final documents of the Council but the best lens for re-reading clearly Vatican II’s collective dream. Only if its teaching remains fresh in our minds and hearts are we likely to walk the challenging steps we still must take to effect God’s plan in today’s world.
Presenters: Fr. Bob Bonnot with Dr. Joseph Torma
