Golden Opportunity!

#GivingTuesday
November 27, 2018
For the first time, AUSCP will participate in #GivingTuesday this year. In response to the onslaught of Christmas sales enticing buyers to spend, #GivingTuesday is designed to inspire donations to worthwhile causes. As a nonprofit, AUSCP is eligible for matching funds when donations are given online on the AUSCP Facebook page on November 27th. We ask you to consider giving and asking your friends to give to this unique opportunity to double our donations.

USCCB November Assembly
The USCCB November Assembly did not produce the much anticipated response to the sexual abuse crisis. However, there are links below to significant presentations and to the document on Racism that resulted from this meeting:
- Sr. Teresa Maya (Past President of LCWR & Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word) gave a moving, yet challenging address to the US bishops. She challenged them to "Listen to the heart of our people." You can access her address HERE.
- Archbishop Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the U.S. since 2016, addressed the Bishops, telling them they need to regain the trust of the faithful. Click HERE to read the CNS article on his talk.
- "Open Wide Our Hearta: The Enduring Call to Love, A Pastoral Letter Against Racism" - This document merits study and reflection. Quotes:
- Racism still profoundly affects our culture, and it has no place in the christian heart..(Needed) is a genuine conversion of heart, a conversion that will compel change, and the reform of our institutions and society..
- We cannot, therefore, look upon the progress against racism in recent decades and conclude that our current situation meets the standard of justice. In fact, God demands what is right and just.
The entire document has been published on the USCCB website. Click HERE for the pdf version. Comments on the importance of this document from Friends of AUSCP have been published on the AUSCP website.
Catholic Climate Covenant
How do our daily choices contribute to climate change? What are the attitudes and behaviors that need examination? Do you ever wish that we could live more simply and sustainably? How can Catholics live more faithfully in a consumer-driven society? Are there ways to celebrate Christmas in a more meaningful and spiritual way?
To find answers to these questions, join us for a one-hour webinar, "Living Simply-Living Faithfully" on Wednesday, November 28th (2:00-3:00 pm
eastern).
Last call! St. John XXIII Award Nominees for 2019
The AUSCP Leadership Team is calling for nominations from our members for the Pope Saint John XXIII award to be presented at the 2019 Assembly in St. Louis. This award is given to someone in the Church who has given exceptional witness to promoting the vision of the Second Vatican Council.
Please submit name and contact information, along with three reasons why he or she should be considered. Nominee must be present at the Assembly to accept the reward. Send your nomination to: office@uscatholicpriests.org.
The deadline for submitting names is November 26, 2018.
Marketing Expertise Needed
The AUSCP Leadership Team sees the need for forming a Marketing/Branding Committee to assist with expanding the reach of AUSCP. This committee would interface with the Communications Committee. If you, or someone you know has expertise in marketing/branding and would be willing to work on such a committee, please send the name and contact information to the AUSCP office:

In Memoriam
We have received word that AUSCP member Philip J. Kreilein, 70, Diocese of Evansville, died on October 23rd. He served as pastor of Resurrection Parish in Evansville since 2002 and as Dean of
the Diocese of Evansville’s South Deanery since 2015. He served many years as the chaplain for athletes and teams at Mater Dei High School and the University of Southern Indiana.
May he rest in God's eternal love.
Annual Appeal
The Annual Appeal is off and running. Thus far we have received donations from 167 donors with a total of $26,300. This is a great start!
Our goal for this year's appeal is to receive donations from 350 donors for a grand total of $100,000. This would represent a 40 percent increase over last year's appeal and would enable the AUSCP to move forward with plans to reach every priest in the U.S. with our message of hope and joy.
Please consider making an online donation on #GivingTuesday, November 27th, when all donations made through the AUSCP Facebook page will be matched by PayPal. Thank you!

How to Reduce Your 2019 Assembly Cost by $200
If you reserve your hotel room soon for the June Assembly in St. Louis, you will see an offer for a Marriott Credit Card. If you do not currently, or within the last 2 years, have a Marriott Credit Card, you can apply for one now and get a $200 credit on the card IF you make a purchase within 3 months. Once you have the card you could register for the Assembly, and $200 of that $495 fee will be covered by your credit! (You also get 2 free nights at a Marriott hotel IF you charge $3000 on your Marriott Card within 3 months of getting
it.)
For the first year there is no fee; in the second year, a fee of $95. Such offers typically allow cancellation of the card before the renewal date, so you could avoid the $95 fee for the second year if you wish. This card option is likely available until near Christmas. Be sure to look at the conditions. If it makes sense to you, AUSCP's
2019 Assembly will be yours at significantly reduced cost.
In Christ with Hope, Joy & all Blessings,
