AUSCP Bi-Weekly E-Bulletin
November 24, 2019

May the spirit of Thanksgiving bring you love, laughter, and a warm heart.
God of the living,
with all Your creatures great and small we sing Your bounty and Your goodness, for in the harvest of land and ocean, in the cycles of the seasons, and the wonders of each creature, You reveal Your generosity.
Teach us the gratitude that dispels envy, that we may honor each gift as You cherish Your creation, and praise You in all times and places. That this day may be holy, good and joyful: we pray in gratitude to You, O Lord. ...
That we may always and everywhere give thanks to You, O God, for all of our blessings
and giftedness: we pray in gratitude to You, O Lord.

A Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving to you!

We give thanks and praise to God for all of you priestly people who daily walk in the trenches, trying to get the "smell of the sheep" to whom you minister. May you be blessed abundantly with renewed energy and enthusiasm!
The AUSCP Leadership Team
Invitation from "Compassion"
Compassion is a small organization centered at St. Rose Church in Perrysburg, Ohio. This organization sponsors a newsletter, Compassion, written by and for men and women on death row. It is sent every other month free to all 3200+ awaiting execution, as well as to all members of Congress and governors of death penalty states.
This year the group has a new initiative for fundraising - publishing a calendar using only art by death row inmates. Anyone wishing to order one can send $10 (checks made out to Compassion) to: Sr. Pat Schnapp, RSM, 3529 Secor, Apt. 202, Toledo 43606. You will receive a calendar and a copy of Compassion by mid-December. Be sure to include your mailing address.

Immigration Action - Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns
The “Remain in Mexico” policy at the U.S.-Mexico border, means asylum seekers who reach the United States are returned to Mexico to
await their asylum hearings, often many months away. Many sleep in tents or in the streets of Mexican border towns, where they are subject to violence and desperate poverty. With lack of access to legal representation, only 0.1% of asylum seekers under the “Remain in Mexico” policy have been granted
asylum.
Take action today to urge your members of congress to oppose the “Remain in Mexico” program.
************
We offer a word of thanks to AUSCP member Bruce Nieli, CSP, who crosses the border into Matamoros, Mexico, to visit and celebrate liturgy with those who are waiting to cross into the U.S. There
are thousands stranded just across the bridge from Brownsville, Texas.

Multiply AUSCP Influence
AUSCP Founding Father Tony Gallagher recently sent an email saying that when AUSCP publishes an e-bulletin, articles and/or links on Facebook, or sends Action Alerts, he forwards them to his friends and shares them on his own Facebook page. This is a great way to expand our influence! Please do likewise on your
social media sites and email lists.
Hope for the Holidays - for those in Immigration Detention
Thousands of families are being held in three immigration detention centers in the U.S. You can bring hope to these families and to children who cross our borders alone, by writing Christmas cards in English and/or Spanish. Write a message of hope and encouragement, sign the card (first name and city/state). Instead of putting your cards into individual
envelopes, place them in one large manila envelope and send them by December 6th to:
First English Lutheran Church
Attn. Hope for the Holidays
3807 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21218.
Encourage your friends and parishioners to participate in this simple way of brightening Christmas for those in immigration detention!
More information and resources for this project are available at: LIRS.org/hopefortheholidays
Annual Appeal Returns
The Annual Appeal mailing was sent out on October 11th on the feastday of Pope St. John XXIII and the opening date of the Second Vatican Council in 1962. Returns have been received from 248 persons for a total of $34,865. Thank you!
The Annual Appeal is the main source of income for the AUSCP! This year's goal is $150,000 from 450 donors. We need the support of all who believe in furthering the spirit of Vatican II and the agenda of Pope Francis. If you know any persons who are possible supporters of the AUSCP, approach them for a donation. Or, notify the office and we will send an appeal letter. Send the name and address to: office@uscatholicpriests.org.
Thank you for whatever support you are able to offer! We are counting on your generosity to help us move forward.
